OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University head volleyball coach Carolyn Condit announced the signing of four student-athletes on Wednesday. Jacquelyn Krumnauer (Brentwood, Tenn./Father Ryan), Molly Mirabelli (Traverse City, Mich./Traverse City St. Francis), Allyson Severance (North Branch, Mich./North Branch) and Lindsay Taylor (Rockford, Mich./Rockford) will each begin play for the RedHawks in the 2019 season.
"On this date we are officially welcoming four very talented student-athletes as they sign with our program," said Condit. The strong level of volleyball they are now experiencing is preparing them well for the rigors of the Division 1 game. They share three things in common: they are excellent students, avid competitors and athletes who love to win!"
Krumnauer is a 5-6 libero/defensive specialist who was a four-year letterwinner for Father Ryan High School in Nashville. She was the team's libero her final three seasons, joining their 1,000 career dig club. Krumnauer was named a Division II AA First-Team All-Region member in 2017 and 2018. She was named to the Tennessee Sportswriters Association Division II All-State team in 2016 and 2017 (2018 team not released yet). She helped lead Father Ryan to the final four each of the last three seasons. Krumnauer played her club volleyball for Alliance 18 REN.
"Jacqueline possesses all the traits of a great libero as she is an exceptional worker who constantly strives for consistency as a passer and defender," said Condit. "She is quick, verbal, energetic, and brings courage and optimism to the court. Her game intelligence shows in her decisions and team leadership. Jacqueline loves the game and will be a fine addition to our program. We are confident she will add to our competitive environment at Miami as we pursue championships."
Mirabelli is a 6-0 middle hitter who was a four-year letterwinner for Saint Francis High School in Traverse City, Michigan. She was a three-time All-State selection in 2016, 2017 and 2018. She also earned All-Conference and All-Region honors each of those years. Mirabelli helped lead her school to the Michigan state semifinals in 2015. She played her club volleyball for the Far Out Volleyball Club.
"Molly brings good experience as a Middle Blocker/Hitter to Miami as she has excelled in both areas at the high school level," said Condit. "She has the power to 'light it up' as a hitter and be a dominant blocker. Her strength, agility and size will certainly add to the quality of our middle position. Molly is a highly motivated athlete with a strong desire to win. We look forward to coaching her to 'impact player' status in our program, and believe she will be an outstanding RedHawk teammate."
Severance is a 6-1 outside hitter who was a four-year letterwinner for North Branch High School in North Branch, Michigan. She played all six rotations. Severance set the school record for career kills with 2,297 and kills in a season with 853. Her 849 kills in 2018 ranked first in Michigan and third nationally. Her 2,297 career kills ranks 10th all-time in Michigan high school volleyball history. Severance was a 2018 Miss Volleyball finalist in the state and was named First-Team All-State in 2015 and 2017 (2018 team not released yet). She was also named a High School All-American High Honorable Mention in 2015 and Highest Honorable Mention, along with Junior All-American in 2017. Severance played her club volleyball for Legacy.
"Allyson comes to Miami as a 6-rotation outside hitter who has been known to pass and play defense like a libero. She is multi-talented, and beyond her excellent ball control and backcourt talents, she has the size and power to positively impact our line-up as a fine blocker and hitter. Allyson is athletic, coachable and full of game intelligence. Along with good leadership qualities she brings a competitive mindset to Miami, and her potential as a RedHawk is unlimited."
Taylor is a 6-2 outside hitter who was a four-year letterwinner for Rockford High School in Rockford, Michigan. She was named an Under Armour Girls High School Third Team All-American in 2018. She also was a finalist for Gatorade Player of the Year. Taylor was named Second-Team All-State and a two-time All-American at the national AAU tournament. Just this past week, Taylor was selected as the prep volleyball national player of the week by Prepvolleyball.com after helping lead Rockford to the final four of the state tournament. She was a teammate of Mirabelli, playing her club volleyball for the Far Out Volleyball Club.
"Lindsay's talents are unlimited, and as a 6-rotation Outside Hitter she possesses power, a variety of shots and a sound passing game," said Condit. "She is a very determined athlete with an explosive jump and above average quickness that will help compliment her blocking and defense on the college level. Lindsay's determination, ball control and versatility are qualities that will help her impact Miami's line-up. She has established herself as a 'terminator' and we look forward to coaching her to the next level."
While the four will not begin play until 2019, the 2018 RedHawks are hosting the Mid-American Conference Tournament at Millett Hall this week. Tourney matches will take place Thursday through Sunday. As the second seed, Miami has a double-bye to the semifinal round Saturday and will face either third seed Ball State, sixth seed Northern Illinois or seventh seed Ohio in a semifinal match at 7 p.m. With a win, the RedHawks will play in the MAC Championship match on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. All MAC Tournament matches will air live on ESPN+.
