OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University women's basketball team (2-0) beat Eastern Kentucky (0-2) by a 60-44 margin on Tuesday. The RedHawks had the lead the entire game.
Miami started the game with a 6-0 run, including a three-pointer from
Kendall McCoy, before Eastern Kentucky got onto the scoreboard with a layup.
McCoy got an offensive rebound and passed to
Kristen Levering, who immediately sent it to
Lauren Dickerson behind the arc. Dickerson's basket gave Miami an 8-2 lead.

The RedHawks led 17-12 after the first quarter. McCoy and Dickerson led the scoring with six and five points, respectively, while
Savannah Kluesner led with four rebounds.
The teams traded buckets to start the second quarter, with Miami leading by a 23-18 margin at the first media timeout.
Abbey Hoff drew a foul on a layup and completed the three-point play to extend the RedHawks' lead to 26-18 midway through the quarter.

After 20 minutes, Miami held a 28-22 lead. Dickerson led the RedHawks with nine points while
Savannah Kluesner led with five rebounds.
Eastern Kentucky battled back to within one at the start of the second half by scoring the first five points of the half before Miami got on the board. After four minutes of play in the third quarter, the RedHawks increased their lead to seven points, but would see that lead diminish to two points to end the quarter.
Miami started the fourth quarter with a 8-0 run on buckets from Dickerson, Hoff and Levering (two). With six minutes remaining in the game, Dickerson dished it to Levering under the hoop for an easy layup to give Miami a double-digit lead.

Dickerson made a layup and then hustled down to center court to poke the ball away and return possession to the RedHawks.

Miami outscored Eastern Kentucky 18-4 in the fourth quarter to win by 16 points. Dickerson led the offense with 19 points.
Savannah Kluesner led the team with nine rebounds.
Leah Purvis had five steals.
The RedHawks travel to Detroit Mercy for a game on Friday at 7 p.m.
