Miami Hosts Eastern Kentucky For Home Opener

The RedHawks host Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday for the 2018-19 home opener.

ON TAP: Miami opens its 2018-19 home schedule with a game against Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. The game will be aired on ESPN3 and called on Miami Radio. The game is also Heroes Night, to honor those who serve us every day.  A discounted ticket rate is available for all veterans, active military personnel and first responders. LAST TIME OUT: The Red & White opened the regular season with a win at Canisius on Friday, Nov. 9 by a 62-59 margin. Miami put together a fourth-quarter comeback to win in the last three minutes of play after trailing by as many as 19 points. Kendall McCoy led the RedHawks' offense with 16 points and tacked on a team-high seven rebounds. Kristen Levering, Lauren Dickerson and Savannah Kluesner also hit double digits.

ABOUT EASTERN KENTUCKY: The Colonels lost their season opener to Saint Louis by a 43-70 margin on Friday, Nov. 9. Abby Wright led Eastern Kentucky with eight points while Hailey McCoy and Mashayla Cecil each scored seven off of the bench. Last season, the Colonels finished 8-19 overall and 5-13 in conference play. Eastern Kentucky returns senior forward Abby Wright and sophomore guard/forward Bria Bass, who were second (362 points) and third (288 points) in scoring last season, respectively.

SERIES WITH EASTERN KENTUCKY: Eastern Kentucky owns nine victories in the 14-game series with Miami. On December 10, 2016, the RedHawks won by a 65-54 margin. Lauren Dickerson led the Miami offense with 19 points.

UP AHEAD: Miami travels to Detroit Mercy on Friday, Nov. 16. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
