The RedHawks’ short program scored an impressive 67.20 in the short program at Anaheim Ice.
ANAHEIM – Miami's senior synchronized skating team built off of its strong opening weekend with a dazzling short program performance at the Anaheim Ice Fall Classic on Saturday night.
The RedHawks' Destiny's Child remix short program put up a resounding score of 67.20 from the judges, which has them holding the lead after day one of the competition. That tally is ahead of Skyliners (66.13) and California Gold (42.79).
"The team had a great skate and cleaned up a lot of things from last week," head coach Carla DeGirolamo said. "We made a nice jump in score and are looking forward to what we can do in the free skate tomorrow."
It is also nearly three points better than the Red & White's top score of 64.54 in the short program at nationals last season.
Miami's senior program competes in the free skate on Sunday to conclude the competition.
