RedHawks Wrap Up Strong Weekend in Anaheim

Miami posted a 12-point improvement to its opening weekend score at the Anaheim Ice Fall Classic.
ANAHEIM – Following a dynamic short program on Saturday, the Miami senior synchronized skating program continued to show marked improvement while also learning some lessons at the Anaheim Ice Fall Classic on Sunday.
The RedHawks competed in their free skate in Sunday's final day of competition, adding nearly five points to their score at last weekend's Diamond Classic with a 111.17, which was good for a combined total of 178.37 for the competition. Both of those totals placed second to the Skyliners, whose free skate score of 118.32 won them the meet with a total of 184.45.
"Overall, this was a solid outing for us," head coach Carla DeGirolamo said. "We missed one of our lifts and had a small fall that put us in second this time. The rest of the skate was really strong and we still improved on our score from last week. We look forward to continuing to make improvements for our next competition."
While settling for silver this time around, the raw score represents a 12.3-point improvement from opening weekend along with a nearly 20-point improvement from the Red & White's output at this competition a year ago. Those free skate and combined scores would have topped every MU score from last season with the exception of the national championships (118.45 free skate/182.99 combined score).
The RedHawks are off of competition until Nov. 30 as they'll use the next few weeks of practice to gear up for the first big litmus test at the Dr. Richard Porter Classic.
