The RedHawks are ranked 25th among Division I programs in the nation, according to the NFHCA coaches’ poll.
GILBERT, Ariz. – The National Field Hockey Coaches' Association announced its weekly Division I coaches' poll on Tuesday. For the first time in Miami field hockey history, the RedHawks earned a top-25 ranking in the poll.
No. 25 Miami secured its second-straight MAC regular season championship with its second-straight undefeated season in conference play this year. The RedHawks have won three of the last four regular-season titles and captured the MAC Tournament title in 2017. Miami only gave up one goal in conference play during the regular season, earning five MAC shutouts.
The RedHawks posted the longest shutout streak in program history this season, shutting down opponents' offensive attacks for more than 350 minutes of play. Miami put up nine shutouts on the season, two of those coming against Big-10 opponents. The RedHawks beat No. 22 Ohio State, who has since moved up to No. 19 in the rankings.
Miami hosts the Mid-American Conference Tournament in Oxford from Wednesday, Oct. 31 until Saturday, Nov. 3. The top-seeded RedHawks play on Friday, Nov. 2 at 11:30 a.m. against the winner of the No. 4 Ball State vs. No. 5 Ohio game.
