Miami Wraps Up Road Schedule

The RedHawks travel to Saint Louis and Louisville in their final road weekend of the 2018 regular season.
OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University field hockey team wraps up its regular season road schedule this weekend. The RedHawks travel to Saint Louis for a 5:30 p.m. game on Friday and to No. 10 Louisville for a noon game on Sunday.
Last weekend, Miami (9-5, 4-0 MAC) shutout Longwood by a 4-0 margin before dropping a close 1-2 match to No. 18 Virginia. The first goal from Virginia capped the longest shutout streak of opponents in Miami field hockey history at 350 minutes and one second, dating back to the game at No. 22 Ohio State on September 16.
Senior midfielder/forward Paula Portugal scored twice against Longwood, her fifth multi-goal game of the season, to earn MAC Offensive Player of the Week honors. Senior back Kendall Hunker was named MAC Defensive Player of the Week for her play against Longwood and No. 18 Virginia. Sophomore forward Allie Grace Joyner scored the RedHawks goal against No. 18 Virginia in addition to putting one in the net against Longwood.
Head coach Iñako Puzo, sophomore forward/midfielder Lexie Nugent and Hunker spoke to MiamiRedHawks.com about the RedHawks' level of play and previewed what to expect against Saint Louis and No. 10 Louisville.

ABOUT SAINT LOUIS: The Billikens (3-8, 1-4 A10) dropped a 1-3 contest at Indiana last weekend after beating La Salle in double overtime the weekend before. Freshman midfielder Emily Wastell currently leads Saint Louis in goals (4) while senior midfielder/back Carly Kissinger leads the team in assists (5).
SERIES WITH SAINT LOUIS: Miami holds a 16-9 lead in the all-time series with Saint Louis. In 2016, the RedHawks shutout the Billikens by a 9-0 margin – the game in which Portugal set Miami records for the most goals (5) and most points (12) in a single game.
ABOUT NO. 10 LOUISVILLE: The Cardinals (10-3, 2-2 ACC) beat Michigan State by a 4-1 margin in Louisville last Sunday. Junior forward/midfielder Bethany Russ and freshman midfielder/forward Erica Cooper lead the Cardinals' offense in points with 16 apiece, while senior midfielder Katie Walsh leads in assists with seven. Senior goalkeeper Ayeisha McFerran boasts a 1.17 GAA and .706 save percentage with four shutouts under her belt.
