MUNCIE, Ind. - The Miami women's basketball team had its win streak snapped at seven when it fell to Ball State, 86-61, Wednesday evening inside Worthen Arena in Muncie.
The Cardinals rattled off the first 10 points of the game and never looked back en route to their 12th win of the season and their first in MAC play. The RedHawks meanwhile dropped their first contest since November, moving their record to 9-4 (1-1 MAC) on the year.
Despite a slow start to the game, Lauren Dickerson managed to pour in a team-high 15 points to go with three rebounds and three assists. 13 of those points came in the second half. Her minutes were once again limited due to foul trouble.
Kendall McCoy posted double figures for the third-straight game and her eight overall this season with 13 points off of the bench. Overall, Miami went 22-of-63 (34.9 percent) from the floor.
Ball State got double-figure scoring efforts from Moriah Monaco (20 points), Jasmin Samz (16 points), Destiny Washington (16 points) and Carmen Grande (15 points). The Cardinals finished the night 32-of-67 (47.8 percent) from the field.
Miami is back on the court at home this Saturday at 1 p.m. against Central Michigan to kick off a One Miami triple header that includes the men's basketball team taking on Western Michigan at 3:30 p.m. and hockey facing Denver over at the Goggin Ice Center at 7:05 p.m.
