
Miami Comeback Effort Falls Just Short at Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The RedHawk women's basketball team nearly completed a late comeback on the road at Buffalo Wednesday evening but it was the Bulls who ultimately collected a 72-67 victory.
A UB layup with just over six minutes to go in the fourth quarter put the Bulls up by a game-high 11 points but the RedHawks refused to go quietly. By the 7:44 mark, Miami had gotten back within four after Megan Galloway got fouled, hit the bucket and and converted on a free throw attempt. The successful three-point play had the score at 62-58 Bulls with 2:16 left on the clock.
Galloway finishes underneath and is fouled! She hits the FT to complete the three-point play. Miami within four with just over two minutes to go.

The RedHawks inched closer after a Buffalo layup was answered with a Kayla Brown make from downtown. Following another Bulls basket, MU once again responded with a make from deep, this time by Lauren Dickerson with just 25 seconds to go. The three-point field goal cut the UB lead to 66-64.

After an intentional foul on the ensuing inbound led to a pair of makes at the charity stripe for the Bulls, Brown was fouled on an attempt from beyond the arc. The senior buried all three of her chances to narrow the deficit to just one at 68-67 with 14 ticks left on the clock. The Red & White's comeback effort was thwarted by four UB free throws as the MAC East-leading Bulls improved to 12-3 (3-1 MAC) on the season while Miami dropped to 9-5 (1-3 MAC).
Dickerson led all RedHawks with 16 points and also dished out six assists.
Dickerson shows some handles and puts the floater in to cut the Buffalo lead to 42-38 with under two minutes to go in the third.

Kendall McCoy and Brown each notched 12-point efforts while Galloway contributed 11 off of the bench.
McCoy follows a blocked shot, puts it back up and hits. 60-53 Buffalo with just over four minutes to go.

Miami is back on the court at home this Saturday at 2 p.m. as it hosts Eastern Michigan. It is Alumnae Day for the Red & White, with special recognition set to be given to the 2008 MAC Championship team.
