Flavin was the runner-up medalist at the MAC Championship this past week, finishing the event at six-under par. He was only two shots behind individual champion Gisli Sveinbergsson of Kent State. Flavin shot rounds of 69-71-67-75 to earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team. He was further honored with his third straight First-Team All-MAC selection.
This is the second time this season and seventh time in his career that Flavin has been named Miami's Male Athlete of the Week. He last won it for the week of Oct. 10-16, 2016.
Shteyn was an anchor for the RedHawks in their run to the Mid-American Conference Tournament finals over the weekend. The junior won all three of her singles matches and earned a spot on the MAC All-Tournament Team. Her victory at No. 5 singles on Saturday gave Miami its first lead as it finished an eventual upset of MAC regular season champion Ball State.
This is the first time this season and second time in her career that Shteyn has been named Miami's Female Athlete of the Week. She last won it for the week of March 30-April 5, 2015.
The next Miami Athletes of the Week will be announced on Monday, May 8.
