OXFORD, Ohio- In its last match of the regular season, Miami University women's tennis team ended on a strong note after it downed conference opponent Eastern Michigan University, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon.
The match started off with a strong showing in doubles where Miami's top tandem of sophomore

Andreea Badileanu defeated Alejandra Barcelo and Renu Sharma, 6-2. Miami claimed the doubles point after junior
Nelli Ponomareva and sophomore
Anzhelika Shapovalova topped Ani Gogvadze and Maria Paula Ribero, 6-4.
The `Hawks went on to claim victory after tallying wins at second, fourth and fifth position, respectively. Shapovalova outlasted Andrea Martinovska at second flight, (7-5, 6-1). Struble remains undefeated in fourth position with a straight-set win over Anna Veleva, (6-1, 6-4). Shteyn recorded the winning point for Miami, coming out on top in her match against Alejandra Barcelo (6-3, 6-3). Miami returns home to prepare to travel to Ball State to compete in the Mid-American Conference Championships this weekend. The three-day event opens up on Friday with a match against Northern Illinois at 10 a.m.
