RedHawk men take fourth place at MAC Championships

CARBONDALE, Ill. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃÆ'¢'¬" Miami University's men's swimming and diving team ended the Mid-American Conference competition in fourth place, with a score of 518.5.
James Wray placed fifth in the 200-yard backstroke, timing in at 1:48.06. Justin Andrews and Jake Precious swam in the B-Final of the event. Andrews finished ninth overall (1:48.04) and Precious touched the wall in tenth (1:48.82).
Nicholas Wukovits came in fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:58.37. His time beat the previous school record of 1:59.04, set by Evan Bader at the 2014 MAC Championships. Hutch Blackstone placed seventh, clocking in at 1:58.57. The duo collected 26 points for the RedHawks.
Ross Rybakowicz competed in the 200-yard butterfly in 1:49.25, earning fifth place in the event. Rob Newman placed 16th overall, clocking in at 1:54.60.
Jack Strauss finished ninth in the 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 45.50. Ross Westrick finished the event in 46.17, earning him 13th place.
Bryan McNamara was the lone competitor in the 1650-yard freestyle for Miami. He placed tenth, clocking in at 15:59.77, earning seven team points.
Ryan Nash placed eighth in the three-meter dive, earning 307.10 points. Harrison Moncino and Sean Sargent competed in the B-Final. Moncino finished 11th overall (310.50) and Sean Sargent placed 14th (259.00).
For the final race of the season, Andrews, Strauss, Westrick and Blackstone placed fifth in the 400-yard freestyle relay, touching the wall in 3:02.17. Andrews, Blackstone, Brock, Strauss and Wukovits all made second-team All-MAC.
Up next for the RedHawks is the NCAA Zone Diving Championships in Bloomington, Ind. on Thursday, March 9 through Saturday, March 11.
