OXFORD, Ohio - North Dakota put senior night celebrations behind Miami fans by topping the RedHawks 5-2 in the regular season finale at Steve 'Coach' Cady Arena on Saturday night.

The Fighting Hawks (18-14-3, 11-12-1-1 National Collegiate Hockey) held the RedHawks (9-18-7, 5-14-5-3 NCHC) to 11 shots to finish a weekend sweep.

North Dakota went on a power play 1:35 in, but Miami managed to keep the attack on the outside and kill it off. Still, UND controlled possession for the early portion of the game, firing six of the first seven shots on goal.

A RedHawk power play came and went with little created seven and a half minutes in as the contest remained scoreless after 20 minutes with North Dakota owning a 9-2 shot advantage.

The Fighting Hawks took advantage of a giveaway after Ludvig Hoff pounced on an errant clear and chipped it to Chris Wilkie, who was by himself in the middle and buried a shot with 2:34 gone by in the frame to make it a 1-0 game. A power play goal by the Red & White turned things around at the 5:19 mark as Kiefer Sherwood got to a rebound off a Grant Hutton shot to tie the score up at 1-1. Anthony Louis picked up an assist as well to move him into a tie for 22nd on Miami's all-time scoring list with 124 career points.

That score held until a long UND cycle put it back up as Tucker Poolman got free from a check and walked in front of the net to score on a backhand shot up close to make it a 2-1 game with 4:24 left until intermission. Miami went on another power play with 3:14 left until the horn, but managed just one shot on goal in a scoreless two minutes to leave it down a goal at the end of two periods.

A transition chance by North Dakota made it a 3-1 contest 4:18 into the third with Trevor Olson finishing as the late man on the rush and wristing a shot off the cross bar and in to make it a 3-1 contest. Miami fought back as a Chaz Switzer one-timer from the point got through traffic and in with 11:12 remaining, but UND had an answer as Tucker Poolman got free in transition and scored his second of the game 35 seconds later to make it a two-shot game again. A Dixon Bowen empty net tally with 3:30 left capped the scoring.

The Fighting Hawks ended up with a 27-11 edge in shots, going 0-for-2 on the power play while the RedHawks went 1-for-4 with the man advantage. Sherwood netted a goal and an assist for his second-straight multi-point game. Larkin stopped 22 shots while Johnson made nine saves at the other end.

Miami begins its trek in the NCHC Tournament with a best-of-three playoff series at second-seeded Minnesota Duluth on Friday night.
