Men's Basketball
Last Week: Miami (6-4 overall) split its two non-conference games this past week. On Tuesday the RedHawks could not overcome a tough shooting night as they fell to Missouri 70-51 Tuesday evening. (Recap) Miami took advantage of a great performance from beyond-the-arc to defeat Fort Wayne 81-73 on Saturday at Millett Hall. (Recap) This Week: A quiet week due to final exams, but Miami returns to action on Sunday when they host Rio Grande for a 2 p.m. matinee.
Missouri Recap:
Hockey
Last Week: The RedHawks (8-8-2, 3-4-1-0 NCHC) finished the first half of their season at NCHC rival and No. 10/11 Western Michigan. Miami opened up with a 5-2 victory on Friday night as Josh Melnick (1g, 2a) and Gordie Green (2g, 1a) notched multi-point nights and Ryan Larkin made 32 saves to fend off a WMU rally (Recap). Saturday saw Miami take a 3-1 lead midway through the second period and enter the third period with a 3-2 lead in search of its first sweep at Western Michigan since 2008-09. However, the Broncos tied it up with 4:12 remaining and scored late in overtime to force a split in a 4-3 decision (Recap). This Week: Miami is idle until hosting an exhibition against Windsor on Dec. 30.
Women's Basketball
Last Week: Miami (6-3 overall) began the week on the road at IUPUI, coming back from as many as 16 down to upend the Jaguars in overtime, 96-83, behind sophomore guard Lauren Dickerson's career-high 42 points. The RedHawks erased a 14-point fourth quarter deficit to force overtime before outscoring IUPUI 21-8 in the extra frame to grab the victory (Recap). On Saturday, Miami hosted Jacksonville State and edged out a 58-55 win over the Gamecocks, handing the Red & White their fourth-straight victory and improving their home record to an unblemished 4-0 (Recap). This Week: Miami is off until Tuesday, Dec. 19, when it travels to Indiana State for a 7 p.m. tip. The RedHawks then close non-conference play at home on Thursday, Dec. 21, against Florida A&M at 7 p.m.
