OXFORD, Ohio ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃÆ'¢'¬" For their performances last week, sophomore hockey forward Gordie Green and sophomore women's basketball guard Lauren Dickerson are Miami Athletes of the Week for the week of Dec. 4-10.
Green notched his sixth multi-point game and second multi-goal outing of the season in Friday night's 5-2 victory at No. 10/11 Western Michigan. The sophomore also added a power play goal on Saturday night, which put MU up 3-1 at the time. Green has now eclipsed last season's total with a team leading 22 points this season.
This is the first time this season and in his career that Green has been named Miami's Male Athlete of the Week.
Dickerson had one of the best weeks of her young but already-decorated career. She began the week with a masterful performance at IUPUI, leading Miami to a 16-point second-half comeback behind the power of a career-high 42 points on 13-of-26 shooting. Nine of those field goals came from three-point land, tying a program-high for a single game. Her 42 points was the third-highest in a single game in program history. She also posted five assists, five rebounds and three steals in 43 minutes played. In a low-scoring affair on Saturday at home against Jacksonville State, DIckerson put together a more modest stat line, recording 10 points, eight assists, three rebounds and two steals. In all, the Indianapolis, Ind. native helped the RedHawks to a 2-0 record while averaging 26 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 6.5 apg and 2.5 spg.
This is the second time this season and seventh time in her career that Dickerson has been named Miami's Female Athlete of the Week. She last won it for the week of Nov. 20-26.
The next Miami Athletes of the Week will be announced on Monday, Dec. 18.
