Final Results Wolf Run Invitational
ZIONSVILLE, Ind. -- The Miami University golf team finished 11th place at the weather shortened Wolf Run Intercollegiate. The RedHawks shot a 309 in the second and final round to finish at 46-over par on the tournament. Illinois took the lead in the final round, finishing at seven-under par.
"I think the only thing the delay did on Saturday was take away a round of golf we want to have," said head coach Zac Zedrick. "We can be a pretty good team this year and good teams want to play as much golf as possible to separate themselves."
Miami's top finisher was Brian Ohr. The redshirt sophomore showed a steady performance, shooting a 74 in both rounds to solidify a 26th place finish. Ohr was six-over par in the tournament.
"Brian did a nice job of taking what the golf course gave him and minimizing damage if he got into some trouble," said Zedrick.
Junior Patrick Flavin bounced back in his final round. Flavin shot a two-over par 73 on Sunday. He would tie for 41st place at 10-over par for the tournament.
"Pat had a stretch on Saturday where he let some things outside of his control get in the way and it turned a 73 into a 79. However, I think he responded really well on Sunday and looked like the player we all know," said Zedrick.
Rounding out the rest of Miami was senior Greg Conrad, freshman Callahan Elzey and freshman Joshua Cushing. Conrad finished the tournament at 12-over par and in a tie for 49th place. Elzey finished at 19-over par and in a tie for 68th place. Cushing would improve five strokes in the final round to end at 31-over par. He placed 79th in the tournament.
"I think we did the hard things well and the easy things poorly," commented Zedrick. "Things like grinding our really difficult pars, playing some of the toughest holes well were things I thought the guys did a great job of this weekend."
The RedHawks are in action again beginning Monday Sept. 19th at the Inverness Intercollegiate in Toledo, Ohio. Miami will play 36 holes on Monday, Sept. 19 followed by the final 18 holes on Tuesday, Sept. 20.
