OXFORD, Ohio - After a strong display at the team's development camp earlier this month, Miami hockey forward Jack Roslovic (Columbus, Ohio/USNTDP (USHL)) has inked an entry-level contract with the Winnipeg Jets. Roslovic will forego his final three seasons of eligibility with Miami and either play professionally with the Jets or one of their affiliates or with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League.
As a freshman, Roslovic tied for the Miami lead with 26 points on 10 goals and 16 assists last season. The Columbus, Ohio native posted at least one point in each of his first six games. His six power play goals led the Red and White while his 10 power play points tied for second on the team.
Roslovic landed on the National Collegiate Hockey Conference's All-Rookie Team and was also named NCHC Rookie of the Month in October.
"We want to thank Jack for coming to Miami and playing this past season for The Brotherhood," head coach Enrico Blasi said. "I wish him all the best as he moves on in pro hockey."
A highly touted prospect from Columbus, Ohio, Roslovic was selected by the Jets in the first round (25th overall) in the 2015 NHL Draft. In his final season (2014-15) with the US National Team Development Program, Roslovic recorded 79 points (27g, 52a) in 65 games. He also helped lead Team USA to a gold medal at the U-18 World Championships with 11 points in seven games.
"I want to thank Miami for everything they've done for me," Roslovic said. "They helped me develop on and off the ice this past season. The school did a great job maturing me, (strength & conditioning coach Justin Roethlingshoefer) did a great deal for me off the ice in the weight room and the coaching staff was great and helped me on the ice. There is a great group of players at Miami and I wouldn't trade my year here for anything."
Back in June, Roslovic was one of 42 players invited to the USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp, where he will audition for a spot on Team USA for the upcoming World Junior Championship in December.
