OXFORD, Ohio -- For their performances last week sophomore track and field jumper Kenny Glenn and sophomore softball pitcher Amber Logemann are Miami's Athletes of the Week for the week of May 9-15.
On his sixth and final jump of the day, Glenn leaped to a new school record of 25-0 3/4 to take third in the long jump at the MAC Outdoor Championships. That mark was nearly a foot better than his previous season best. Glenn also clinched a berth in the NCAA East Region Preliminary meet for the second-straight season as his new PR moved him up to 23rd in the region.
This is the first time this season and in his career that Glenn has been named Miami's Male Athlete of the Week.
Logemann had an incredible week in leading the RedHawks to the MAC Softball Tournament Championship. She went 4-0 with a 0.65 ERA in 32.1 innings pitched, while striking out 34. Logemann allowed only three earned runs the entire tournament, one in her final 25.1 innings pitched. Opponents hit only .173 against her. The highlight came when she threw all 15 innings in Miami's 3-0 win over Ohio on Thursday, striking out a career-high 15. For her efforts, Logemann was named to the All-Tournament Team, as well as being named MAC Tournament MVP.
This is the first time this season and third time in her career that Logemann has been named Miami's Female Athlete of the Week. She last won it for the week of April 20-26, 2015.
The next Miami Athletes of the Week will be announced Monday, May 23.
