Golf in 6th at Hoosier Collegiate

COLUMBUS, Ind. - The Miami University golf team fired a nine-over par round of 297 in the first round of the Hoosier Collegiate on Saturday. The RedHawks find themselves in sixth place and just six strokes behind tournament leader Purdue.
Patrick Flavin continues his outstanding play, shooting an even-par round of 72 on the opening day and is tied for tenth. The sophomore ranks second among all golfers in par-5 scoring with a two-under 4.50 average. Flavin recorded a par on 14 of 18 holes on Saturday.
Senior Jack Sparling had a solid day as well, posting a two-over round of 74 to slide into a tie for 22nd place. Sparling has recorded 15 pars through one round - good for third among all competitors.
Junior Greg Conrad finds himself in the top 30 as well after shooting a three-over round of 75 to tie for 27th after one day of action. Redshirt freshman Brian Ohr is tied for 40th place after a four-over round of 76. Ohr, like Flavin, also tallied a par in all but four holes in the first round. Senior Daniel Schwarz finished his first day tied for 46th place after a five-over round of 77.
The tournament will conclude with one more round of 18 holes on Sunday beginning at 9 a.m. The event was shortened to 36 holes after inclement weather on Saturday. Live scoring is available here, courtesy of GolfStat.
