BUDAPEST--Miami University's synchronized skating team headed to the ISU World Championships on Monday afternoon as one of two teams to represent the United States at the international event. After over 15 hours of travel, the RedHawks arrived at their hotel in Budapest on late Tuesday afternoon local time. Miami joined other a few other teams at the hotel for dinner before heading off for some much-needed rest.
After breakfast, the skaters had study tables in the morning before taking off for their first practice of the day at the practice rink in the early afternoon. Taking advantage of the warmer weather, the RedHawks went through their off-ice warm ups outside before taking the ice to work on their short program.
After a few hours off, the team took off from the hotel at 5:30 p.m. to head to the main ice arena for their second practice of the day. Miami was the last team to skate for the practice session and used its time to work on its free skate program.
Miami enjoyed a late dinner with several other teams at the hotel before a few hours of down time and lights out.
Seniors Cristy Plahy, Stephanie Fukui and Brittan Mariage took some time to talk about the RedHawks' first full day in Budapest, which will be posted later, and a photo gallery of some of the images of the day is above.
