LEXINGTON, Ky. - A quick start offensively for No. 22 Kentucky spelled trouble for Miami as the Wildcats downed the RedHawks, 11-1, in a weather-shortened eight inning contest on Wednesday. The loss drops the Red & White's record to 20-20 (9-3 MAC) on the season.

The Wildcats started the scoring in the bottom of the second. A one-run double, a one-run single and a bases loaded walk pushed across three runs, giving UK a 3-0 advantage after two innings of play.

Kentucky struck for three more in the home half of the third. A throwing error and two-run double down the line in right made the score 6-0 after three frames.

The RedHawks pushed back in the top of the fourth. With two out, Julian Flanary reached on a hit by pitch and then advanced to second on a wild pitch. With a runner in scoring position, Chad Sedio ripped a single through the right side, plating Flanary and cutting the UK lead to 6-1. The Wildcats answered in their half of the fourth, scoring on a one-run double and a one-run triple. Through four, UK had an 8-1 lead.

Kentucky tacked on another run in the bottom of the fifth on a solo home run to left center, giving the Wildcats a 9-1 advantage through five innings played.

The Wildcats plated two more in the bottom of the sixth on a fielder's choice and error and a sac fly. After six, UK had a 11-1 lead.

With one on and one out for the RedHawks in the top of the eighth, the game was called due to lightning in the area.

The RedHawks get back in action on Friday as they begin their crucial MAC East clash at Kent State.
