RedHawks Hammer Out Start at Ball State Challenge

MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Miami University track and field team kicked off action at the Ball State Challenge on Friday.
To open competition, Zubin Coleman marked a season best 173-0 in the hammer throw to finish third. For the women, Martha Szekely marked 179-4 to finish second and earn a new season best. Katie Walter had a personal best 172-4 to finish fourth and Ashley Frahm marked 167-1 for fifth. Szekely's mark pushes her to the eighth spot in the Mid-American Conference rankings. Coleman's mark moves him to the eighth spot on the conference list as well.
In the javelin, Danielle Collier threw 125-2 to pick up the win for Miami. Aaryn Gray was third with a mark 115-9.
In the 10,000m Matt Stewart took fifth, clocking in a 34:00.71.
Action will resume tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. with the men's discus.
