OXFORD, Ohio - The RedHawks ran into a hot hand in Ball State pitcher Zach Plesac as the Cardinals blanked the RedHawks, 9-0, Saturday evening at McKie Field. The BSU victory evens the MAC-opening series at one apiece heading into Sunday's series finale.

Both pitchers cruised through the first two innings without much incident. In the third, the Cardinals were able to crack the scoreboard. A leadoff solo shot got things going. Later on in the inning, back-to-back singles with runners on plated three. Ball State put up four in the third to take a 4-0 edge through two and a half.

The next Cardinal runs did not come until the seventh inning, which saw them put up another four spot. Two wild pitches and a single through the left side allowed them to plate their runs. Ball State tacked on one more in the ninth on a wild pitch.

Miami starter Cole Gnetz went a career high 6.1 innings pitched. The freshman struck out five Cardinal hitters (also a career-high), while allowing seven runs on six hits.

The RedHawks and Cardinals go back to battle on Sunday as they both look to take the series win. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
