Miami Completes Day One of MAC Championships

Day One Results
YPSILANTI, Mich. - Miami University's men's swimming and diving team opened up the Mid-American Conference Championships with a pair of relays on Wednesday, Mar. 2, in the Jones Natatorium at Eastern Michigan University. Miami ends the first day in fifth place of seven teams in attendance.
Day one saw the completion of the 200-yard medley relay and the 800-yard freestyle relay with successful swims turned in by RedHawks in both events.
Senior Davis Staley, senior Evan Bader, sophomore Peter Simcox and junior Lucas Brock swam to a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, tallying 28 points. The foursome turned in a time of 1:29.98, narrowly missing the school record by .03 seconds. Miami missed fourth place by just a mere four-tenths of a second.
The RedHawks claimed fifth in the 800-yard freestyle relay thanks to the combined efforts of junior Jack Strauss, Brock, sophomore Ross Westrick and senior Chris Dieter, clocking a time of 6:38.19, earning another 28 points.
Miami returns for day two of the competition tomorrow morning with preliminaries beginning at 11 a.m. and continuing with finals at 7 p.m.
