RedHawks Set Their Sights on MAC Championships

OXFORD, Ohio - Miami University's men's swimming and diving team travels to Eastern Michigan University's Jones Natatorium in Ypsilanti, Mich. to compete in the 2015-16 Mid-American Conference Championships. The four-day competition kicks off Wednesday, Mar 2, and concludes Saturday, Mar. 5. The 200-yard medley relay and 800-yard freestyle relay will take place on Wednesday. The remaining days will begin with preliminaries at 11 a.m. and finals at 7 p.m.
Miami was chosen to finish fifth by the league office in a poll of MAC coaches at the beginning of the season. Miami finished the season with a 1-2 in MAC competition and 2-5 in overall dual-meet competition. Miami has claimed three conference titles, with their most recent being in 2006. Miami also earned MAC titles in 1997 and 1999.
The cost of attendance is $7 for a single session of $35 for an all session pass for adults. Students K-12 can purchase tickets for $5 per session or $25 for an all session pass. Meet the Competition
Eastern Michigan captured the 2015 MAC men's swimming and diving championships and is tabbed to claim the title again this year. Miami lost to the Eagles, 184-109 earlier this season when the two teams met in the Nixon Aquatic Center. EMU wrapped up their regular season with a 2-0 in conference competition and a 5-2 in overall competition.
Missouri State wrapped up their season with a 4-3 in overall competition. The Bears were tabbed to finish second this year. Last season, Missouri State fell short of first place by only 20 points.
The University at Buffalo was tabbed to finish third this season. The Bulls defeated the RedHawks 230.5-76.5 earlier this season when the two teams met earlier this season. Buffalo finished third last season.
Southern Illinois wrapped up their season with a 2-1 record against conference opponents. The Salukis finished fourth last season and are tabbed to do the same again this season.
Ball State is coming off their loss against Miami when the two teams met recently in the Nixon Aquatic Center. The Cardinals wrapped up their season with a 0-5 record in overall competition. Ball State finished in seventh last season and were chosen to finish sixth this time around.
Evansville ended their season with a 0-3 conference record and a 3-4 in overall competition. The Purple Aces took sixth during last season's MAC Championship and was chosen to earn seventh this week.
