Miami Swims Well at OSU Invite

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Miami University's men's swimming and diving team closed out its two-day stint at the Ohio State Invitational on Sunday, Feb. 14, turning in several solid performances all around.
Day Two
Junior Maximilian Jelen claimed a third-place finish for the RedHawks in the 200-yard backstroke clocking a time of 1:50.72, two seconds ahead of the Ohio State swimmer in fourth.
Miami had two swimmers make the finals in the 200-yard freestyle. Freshman Chase Bettner turned led the RedHawks in the even with a 14th-place finish, touching the wall at 1:43.69, with freshman Jonathan Brooks close behind in 17th (1:45.68).
Freshman Will Pieseskie was the only swimmer from Miami to make it to the finals in the 50-yard freestyle. Pieseski secured 13th, coming in at 21.71.
Recapping Day One
In the 100-yard butterfly, Bettner finished sixth with his time of 50.62, followed by Brooks in eighth, touching the wall at 52.68.
Pieseski and Better represented Miami in the 100-yard freestyle where they finished 12th and 13th in the 100-yard freestyle. Brooks competed in the same event and finished 24th, respectively.
Preparation for MACs
Looking ahead, the RedHawk men reunite back in Oxford where they will begin preparations for the Mid-American Conference Championships which will take place on Mar. 2-5, in Ypsilanti, Mich.
