OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University senior synchronized skating team is back on the ice this weekend at the 22nd Annual Cap Cod Synchronized Skating Classic in Bourne, Mass. For the RedHawks, the competition is set to run from Saturday, Dec. 10 to Sunday, Dec. 11 at the John Gallo Ice Arena.
Last weekend at the Dr. Richard Porter Classic, the team earned a second place finish, leaving some room for improvement heading into another week of preperation and competition.
"Overall, we had some good skates at the Dr. Porter Classic," said head coach Carla DeGirolamo. "This week, we are aiming to have great skates - more power, more synchronization and more commitment to the movement."
The team kicks off the weekend by skating their short program on Saturday afternoon to the tune of Imelda May's "Right Amount of Wrong". On Sunday, they will perform their free skate to the classical "Samson and Delilah".
A live stream of the action will be available at a cost. The link for that can be found above.
Following this weekend, the senior team will be without another competition until the Mozart Cup in Salzburg, Austria from Jan. 19 to Jan. 21. The junior and collegiate teams will be the first groups to return to action following the holidays with a competition at Synchro Illinois in Oak Lawn, Ill. on Jan. 14.
