Sherwood contributed to Miami's first three goals as the team picked up five of six points against Colorado College over the weekend. Sherwood drew a secondary helper on the RedHawks' lone tally in a 1-1 tie on Friday night, where they eventually earned a second point via a shootout win. Trailing 2-0 after two periods on Saturday, Sherwood helped spur the comeback effort by earning an assist on the Red and White's first goal before coming off the bench as an extra attacker with a delayed penalty to tie the game up with 6:16 left. He enters the winter break second on the team with 18 points, matching last year's total.
This is the second time this season and in his career that Sherwood has been named Miami's Male Athlete of the Week. He previously won it for the week of Oct. 3-9.
Dickerson continued the strong start to her rookie year with two more solid performances this past week. On Wednesday against Indiana State, the Indianapolis, Ind., native put up a team-high 16 points while chipping in four rebounds, two assists and four steals. Saturday's contest against Northwood saw her reach the 20-point mark for the third time this season, this time a career-high 24 points. Dickerson also added five rebounds. three assists and a steal. For the week, she shot 53.3 percent from the field on 16-of-30 shooting, while also sinking all six of her free throw attempts. Dickerson has now scored in double figures, and led the team in scoring, in seven of Miami's nine games.
This is the second time this season and in her career that Dickerson has been named Miami's Female Athlete of the Week. She previously won it for the week of Nov. 21-27.
With very limited events this coming week, the next Miami Athletes of the Week will be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 27.
