BURLINGTON, Iowa -- The Miami University golf team finished the Golfweek Conference Challenge in 10th place after posting a 11- over par round of 299 on Sunday. The final tournament score for the RedHawks tallied at a 22- over par total of 886. Kansas, after being in control through the second round, held on to win the event with a score of 18- under par.
Redshirt sophomore Brian Ohr had another solid round, posting a one- over par round of 73 on the last day to finish one- under par and tied for 12th place. Junior Patrick Flavin ended the final round with a seven- over par round of 79 to finish seven- over par and tied for 34th place.
Rounding out the RedHawks, senior Greg Conrad and freshman Callahan Elzey both tied for 39th place at nine- over par. Conrad knocked his score down six strokes from the second round, turning in an even par round of 72. Elzey shot 75 for three- over par in the final round. Freshman Cam Solomon finished the day with a seven- over par round of 79. Solomon tallied a final score of 19- over par to take 57th place.
"One thing I think really improved this week is the level of confidence the guys carried themselves with and played with," said Miami head coach Zac Zedrick. "Ultimately though, it comes down to one guy playing the way he should yesterday and another guy playing the way he should today and we are probably twelve shots better. That's the difference between finishing fifth or sixth and finishing in 10th."
The Red and White head to Bridgeport, West Virginia, on Oct. 10th for the Mountaineer Intercollegiate.
