TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - In its final competition before the Mid-American Conference Championship, the Miami cross country program posted a pair of top-six finishes at the Pre-National Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
With the squads split into the White races, the RedHawk men finished runner-up to MAC foe Ohio with 159 points while the women earned a sixth-place finish with 236 points in their 6K competition.
Three of the RedHawks' scorers in the men's 8K placed in the top 30 and they were led by Andrew Dusing's 13th-place showing of 25:13.6. Bradley Davis (25:32.2) and Stephen Biebelhausen (25:34.4) finished in close proximity, adding points with 27th and 28th-place finishes, respectively. Jake Brumfield's 25:51.0 was good for 41st while Matt Bromley capped the Miami scoring with a 55th-place time of 26:03.9, which was half a second ahead of teammate Ben Metzger (26:04.5).
For the women, Maria Scavuzzo shined through in her 6K race with a seventh-place time of 21:22.0. Adding points for the women as well were Carly Davis (22:18.8) and Allison Klonne (22:19.0), who took 47th and 48th, respectively. Kelsey Kohls (22:35.2) also scored with a 65th place finish while Maria Weisgerber's time of 22:43.4 was good for 74th to finish the scoring, narrowly ahead of teammate Alexa VanderHoff.
Miami next races on Oct. 29, when it heads to Kent, Ohio for the MAC Championship.
