Senior Team Finishes Second at Mozart Cup

SALZBURG, Austria--Amassing a combined score of 164.49, Miami University's senior synchronized skating team finished second among a 13-team field at the Mozart Cup. The RedHawks, representing the United States as Team USA at the international event, earned the silver medal.
With its Latin dance-themed free skate program, Miami notched a score of 106.39. The RedHawks had one fall, but earned a technical element score of 44.41 and a program component score of 62.98. Finland's Marigold Ice Unity posted a score of 125.79 for their free skate and won the competition with a combined score of 190.31.
Canada's Team Meraki finished third overall with a total score of 151.21. France's Zoulous placed fourth with a combined score of 145.84 followed by Italy's Hot Shivers (141.35), Hungary's Team Passion (129.43), Switzerland's Cool Dreams (124.74), Czech Republic's Olympia (120.11), Czech Republic's Kometa (100.65), Croatia's Zagreb Snowflakes (86.45), Italy's Ladybirds (83.61), Belgium's Team Temptation (71.28) and Austria's Sweet Mozart (65.49).
Miami's senior team is off until the Spring Cup International in Milan, Italy. The RedHawk collegiate and junior teams are back in action next weekend (Jan. 28-30) at the Midwestern Championships in Portland, Oregon.
