Two Miami University synchronized skating teams return to the ice this weekend as the RedHawk collegiate and junior teams are in action at Synchro Illinois on Saturday, Jan. 16 in Oak Lawn, Ill.
Both teams are coming off strong performances their season opener at the Dr. Richard Porter Classic in early December.
The Miami collegiate team won its eighth-straight event dating back to the 2013-14 season with a first-place finish at the Dr. Porter Classic. The RedHawks skate their program to a USA theme.
Miami's junior team earned a pewter medal at the Dr. Porter Classic with a fourth-place finish. Synchro Illinois is a one-day competition, so the junior team will skate both the short and free skate programs on Saturday. For their short program, the RedHawks skate to the "Survivor/I Will Survive" medley from Glee. The free skate program has a Disney villainess theme.
