CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Perfect Game released their annual list of players who made their mark during summer ball and Miami's own Chad Sedio received significant honors. The rising senior was tabbed a First-Team Summer Collegiate All-American.
Sedio spent his summer with the Edenton Steamers (North Carolina) of the Coastal Plain League. After 48 games played, he finished the season as the league leader in batting average (.403), doubles (18), home runs (16) and total bases (143). He ranked second in hits (75) and RBI (49), and third in runs scored (47). His gaudy numbers helped him break the Edenton single-season record for total bases and home runs. Sedio capped of his summer campaign by helping his team to a Coastal Plain League Championship. The team also finished fourth in the Collegiate Summer Baseball Rankings, which spans several different leagues outside of Coastal Plain.
This past season with Miami, Sedio got off to a swift start by playing in the team's first 24 games and garnering an impressive .330 batting average. However, his season was cut short by injury. Sedio has been a solid contributor throughout his time with the RedHawks, hitting .289 or above each of his first three seasons, including a .318 batting average his freshman year. The Red & White will certainly look for him to be a key contributor yet again for the 2015-16 campaign.
The RedHawks will be hosting walk-on tryouts on September 2nd, with fall practice beginning the same month. We at MURedHawks.com will be providing more video and in-depth looks at teams as we enter the new academic school year. Stay tuned as updates will be provided throughout fall ball and into the 2016 season.
