Six RedHawks Tabbed Academic All-MAC

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference announced it's annual Academic All-MAC team on Friday and six RedHawks received recognition. Max Andresen (Granger, Ind./Penn), Jacob Banks (Cincinnati, Ohio/Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy), Ryan Elble (East Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids), Ryan Marske (LaGrange, Ill/Nazareth), Steve Sada (Saegertown, Pa./Saegertown) and Adam Yacek (Austin, Texas/Lake Travis) represented Miami. With six student-athletes named to the Academic All-MAC team, the Red & White have set a new program-high.
Andresen and Elble recently finished off their Miami careers after four successful seasons. Both are making their second appearance on the Academic All-MAC team after each of them received the honor last season. Andresen is a Business Economics and Finance major and posted a 3.52 GPA, while Elble, a finance major, boasted a 3.4 GPA.
Banks, Markse, Sada and Yacek are all making their first appearance on the Academic All-MAC team. Banks was a season-long weekend starter for the Red & White. The Accountancy major boasts a 3.66 GPA. Marske made 21 appearances out of the bullpen for the `Hawks this past season, which was third-most on the team amongst pitchers. The Illinois native is a marketing major with a 3.67 GPA. Sada played and started in more games than any other RedHawk this season, competing in every game aside from the season finale. The accounting major has earned a team-best 3.87 GPA. Yacek rounds out this year's honorees. The redshirt sophomore is coming off a breakout season, leading the Red & White in home runs, slugging percentage, extra base hits and triples while maintaining a while maintaining a 3.68 GPA as a marketing major.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
