RedHawks Suffer Setback at Toledo, 11-6

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Rockets got all the scoring they needed in the third and fourth innings as they held on to defeat Miami (12-36, 10-13 MAC), 11-6 Saturday in what was a scorching hot day at Scott Park.
Miami got the scoring started in the top of the second. Yacek got led off the inning with a single. The next at-bat, Max Andresen belted his fourth home run of the season over the left center wall, putting the RedHawks up, 2-0, heading into the bottom of the second.
Toledo fought back in the top of third, scoring seven runs on three home runs and a one-run single. The Rockets lead stood at 7-2 through three frames.
The RedHawks cut into the UT lead in the top of the fourth as Andresen notched his second home run of the game, minimizing the Rocket lead to 7-3 through three and a half innings.
UT extended their lead in the bottom half of the fourth, plating four more runs on a another home run, a fielder's choice and a wild pitch. The Rockets took an 11-3 lead into the top of the fifth.
Miami fought back in the top of the ninth when Matt Honchel collected a two out, three-run home run to straightaway center. That brought the score to 11-6 but Toledo held on to even the series at one apiece.
The RedHawks return to action Sunday in what will be a crucial rubber match as both teams are fighting for spots in the MAC Tournament. The top eight teams, regardless of division, make the cut for the tournament. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. and Ryan Powers is slated to take the hill for Miami.
