OXFORD, Ohio -- Ohio jumped out to a quick lead again on Friday night in Oxford, but the end result saw a reversal of fortune as Miami fought back to earn a well-earned, 7-6 win over the Bobcats. The victory improved the Red & White's record to 13-38, including 11-15 in MAC play.

Ohio garnered the game's first runs in the top of the first. Mitch Longo got it started with a two-run double to right center. Then, a Jake Madsen groundout allowed the Bobcats to take a 3-0 lead through a half inning of play.

Miami took their first lead of the series in the bottom of the second. Adam Yacek led off the inning with a single through the left side. That was followed up by a Max Andresen walk and a Steve Sade double to right center. Yacek scored on the latter play. The next at-bat, Spencer Dull grounded out to first but Andresen scored on the play. Jacob Wolf kept the scoring going with an RBI single to center field. After a Scott Slappey, double down the left field line, Ryan Elble fly out to right field, however it was deep enough to Wolf from third, giving Elble the sac fly. The RedHawks held a 4-3 lead through two innings of play.

The RedHawks extended their lead in the bottom of the third on a two-run homer by Yacek to center. The four-bagger was Yacek's team-leading sixth of the season.

The Bobcats closed the gap in the top of the sixth. A Kyle Dean two-run double brought Ohio within one. However, in the bottom half of the inning, the RedHawks got one back as Slappey cranked a one-run double to left center. The Miami lead stood at 7-5 through six innings of play.

Ohio came within one run of the RedHawks again in the top of the eighth. A bases loaded hit by pitch cut the Miami lead to 7-6.

Neither team could scrape across any runs in the final inning as Miami held on for a 7-6 win. Miami starter Gus Graham was the pitcher of record for the home team, improving his record to 2-3 on the season. Will Schierholz earned the save for the `Hawks, his team-leading sixth of the season.

Despite the victory, with Akron's win over Kent State Friday, Miami has officially been knocked out of the race for a MAC Tournament bid. Therefore, the final game of the season is set for 3 p.m. at McKie Field at Hayden Park. Baseball's seniors will be honored prior to the game.
