OXFORD, Ohio – For their performances last week redshirt freshman catcher Spencer Dull and senior softball first baseman Shanyn McIntyre are Miami’s Athletes of the Week connected by Frontier Communications for the week of May 4-10.
In three games at Toledo this past weekend, Dull impressed offensively. In Miami's 31-5 victory on Friday, Dull hit for the cycle. On the weekend, he boasted a .400 batting average and a 1.000 slugging percentage. The freshman collected four runs, six RBI, one double, one triple and one home run. He also drew a team-best five walks against Toledo pitching.
This is the first time this season and in his career that Dull has been named Miami’s Male Athlete of the Week.
McIntyre was Miami’s best hitter at the MAC Championship last week. She went 5-for-9 (.556) with three RBIs and one scored. She also drew a pair of walks for an on-base percentage of .636. In the win over Northern Illinois on Wednesday she was on base in all three plate appearances. After drawing two walks, she drove in what turned out to be the game-winning RBIs with a two-run triple in the 6-4 victory. After going 1-for-4 with one run scored against Ball State on Thursday, McIntyre was 3-for-4 with one RBI in the final game of her career against Western Michigan on Friday.
This is the first time this season and in her career that McIntyre has been named Miami’s Female Athlete of the Week.
