Women's Tennis
Last Week: In their fifth appearance in the NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Championship, the Miami women’s tennis team put up a valiant effort, but fell 4-0 to the 11th-seeded Michigan Wolverines in a first-round match Friday afternoon at the Varsity Tennis Courts. (Recap) This Week: Season concluded.
Softball
Last Week: The RedHawks (32-24 overall) went 1-2 in the MAC Tournament to finish up their season. Miami held on for an important first victory to open up play at the Mid-American Conference Tournament. The third-seeded RedHawks defeated sixth seed Northern Illinois, 6-4, on Wednesday. (Recap) Miami fought to the last out, but it could not overcome an early seven-run deficit as it fell to second seed Ball State, 8-5, at the Mid-American Conference Tournament on Thursday. (Recap) Miami once again battled to the very end, but a sixth-inning rally by Western Michigan led the Broncos to a 5-4 victory in the Mid-American Conference Tournament on Friday to eliminate the RedHawks. (Recap) Prior to the MAC Tournament, Miami had three players selected to the All-MAC Teams. (Release) This Week: Miami’s season is complete
Golf
Last Week: The RedHawks were idle, but learned they were selected to compete in the Chapel Hill Regional of the NCAA Tournament. (Release) This Week: Miami heads to Chapel Hill, North Carolina to compete in their first NCAA Regional since 1998. The RedHawks will face a talented 13-team field at the UNC Finley Course, playing one round of 18 holes on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Men’s Track and Field
Last Week: The RedHawks sent a small contingent of jumpers and hurdlers to the Ohio Open on Friday afternoon. Kenny Glenn was the top performer for the Red and White, clearing a personal best 24-5 to claim the long jump. Miami also got first-place finishes from Skyler Coburn in the 400m hurdles (53.43) and Sam Chester in the 110m hurdles (14.34) (Recap). This Week: Miami heads to Ball State for the MAC Outdoor Championships, which run Thursday through Saturday.
Jake Wright is transferring to Miami and will join the RedHawk men's basketball program, head coach John Cooper announced Saturday. (Release)
Baseball
Last Week: The RedHawks began the by hosting Ohio State is the team's last midweek, non-conference matchup of the season. The Buckeyes claimed a 20-7 victory over the Red & White (Recap). Miami then traveled to Toledo for the final regular season road trip of the year. The RedHawks claimed game one of the series, 31-5 (Recap). However, the Rockets rebouned to take the last two games of the series, 11-6 (Recap) and 6-2 (Recap). This Week: The RedHawks wrap-up the regular season schedule with a three-game set against Ohio. Unlike a normal weekend series, this one starts on Thursday and ends Saturday. A preview of the series will be on MURedHawks.com early this week.
