HAMILTON, Ontario—The Miami University senior synchronized skating team began its week at the ISU World Championships on Tuesday. An early morning departure from the Goggin Ice Center to the Cincinnati Airport is how the RedHawks began their travel day. Miami arrived in Toronto in the late morning and drove to Hamilton to check into the hotel, which also is housing the other US team as well as the Russian teams and the team from Great Britain.
After a few hours to get settled and grab some lunch, the team headed out for its first practice at an off-site practice rink. Miami had a 50-minute practice on Tuesday, the longest practice the RedHawks will be able to have all week, working on both it short and free skate programs. Twenty-five teams will compete in this weekend’s World Championships.
Seniors Chandler Carroll and Erin D’Amato along with head coach Carla DeGirolamo took a few minutes to talk about their first day in Canada.
Here are some of the sights and sounds from the team’s first day at the World Championships.
