Making its 11th ISU World Championship appearance following a second-place at the U.S. National Championships in late February, the Miami University senior synchronized skating team wraps up its competitive season this weekend facing the best in the world.
Miami has had a strong season and seeks to medal on the world stage. The team is back after a one-year absence from the event with its last berth in the World Championships coming in 2013. The RedHawks claimed the first medal by a U.S. team in U.S. Figure Skating history, capturing silver in 2007. It continues to be the best medal finish by a U.S. team. Miami finished third at the Mozart Cup in its international competition earlier this year and earned first-place finishes at the Dr. Porter Classic and also in the short program at the Colonial Classic this season.
The RedHawk senior team performs their short program to the song “The World is Ours”. Their free skate program is an Elvis medley to “Heartbreak Hotel”, “A Little Less Conversation”, and “Blue Suede Shoes”.
There will be updates throughout the week of the team’s trip to Hamilton, Ontario for the ISU World Championships. Follow the Miami Athletics and Miami Synchronized Skating social media accounts listed above as well as www.MURedHawks.com
