TOLEDO, Ohio – The Miami University softball team dropped its weekend finale to Toledo, 3-0, on Sunday. The RedHawks fall to 23-16 overall and 7-3 in the Mid-American Conference. The Rockets improve to 15-24 overall and 2-8 in the MAC.

Toledo got on the board with a solo home run in the bottom of the first off of Miami starter Amber Logemann. She held the Rockets in check until the bottom of the fourth when a bunt single and a bases loaded hit-by-pitch brought in two more runs to complete UT’s scoring. Senior Remy Edwards came in the final two innings and held the Rockets off the board the rest of the way.

Miami managed six hits for the game, but could not string them together to get a run across on Sunday. Senior outfielder Tiyona Marshall and junior outfielder Tanya Busby led the way with two hits apiece.

The RedHawks return to action next weekend when they host Northern Illinois for a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 1 p.m. Miami then welcomes Western Michigan to Oxford for single games on Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. The entire weekend is Alumni Weekend and there will be a special alumni slow-pitch softball game after Saturday’s contest.
