Miami Moves to Fourth Place

GENEVA, Ohio – The Miami University men’s swimming and diving team moved from fifth to fourth place in the overall standings after a successful day two of the Mid-American Conference Championships. Miami boasted two first-place finishes and added another 133 points to their overall score.
Senior Joe Baumgartner contributed 20 points after he claimed first place in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking an impressive time of 19.90. Sophomore Lucas Brock also competed in the same event and earned eighth with his time of 20.53.
A new school record was set by the 200-yard freestyle relay team after they swam wire to wire to bring home another first-place finish for the RedHawks. Baumgartner, Brock, freshman Ross Westrick, and sophomore Jack Strauss completed the race with a final team time of 1:19.90, tallying another 40 points.
Junior Cole Fryman participated in the one-meter diving finals where he accumulated a personal best of 319.65 points, good enough for sixth place.
Miami was represented in the 500-yard freestyle by sophomore Bryan McNamara who swam to a seventh-place finish, touching the wall at 4:30.60.
Prelims begin tomorrow at 11 a.m. and finals are at 7 p.m.
