OXFORD, OHIO – As is the case at many institutions, when recruits visit Miami University, they will meet with a professor in their intended major to have a better understanding of the curriculum. In setting up such a meeting a few years ago, Craig Bennett, Assistant Athletic Director was taken aback by a faculty member’s comment.
“The professor said, “’I am happy to meet with them and I enjoy talking about what Miami has to offer, but I have never met the coach that I am trying to help recruit for,’ says, Bennett. “I thought to myself why don’t we change that and so we have had this meet and greet event now for three years.”
Administrators and the Academic Support staff invited Miami faculty and staff to its third annual a reception Tuesday in order to thank them for all of their dedicated effort and care they give to Miami student-athletes. Coaches from Miami athletic programs got the opportunity to interact with faculty and staff over a small breakfast in order to thank them for their commitment to educating and supporting their student-athletes. In addition, faculty and staff got the opportunity to learn that Miami coaches are not just focused on the wins and losses but for the overall well-being of their student athletes.
Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Support Services Craig Bennett, Athletic Director David Sayler and Head Football Coach Chuck Martin were among those who spoke to the audience thanking them for their dedicated service. A video presentation by President Hodge, faculty, staff and student athletes was also presented.
