Lin Finishes Second at NCAA's

GREENSBORO, N.C.—Capping an impressive season, Miami University women’s sophomore diver Pei Lin finished second in the three-meter dive in the NCAA Division I Swimming & Diving Championships Friday evening, marking the best finish at an NCAA meet by RedHawk women's swimmer or diver in program history.
Lin was seeded fifth after preliminaries earlier Friday afternoon with a score of 366.85 points, but came back with a powerful performance in the finals that left her trailing the national champion by a mere 0.55 points. She broke her own school record and the MAC record by scoring 409.70 points in the finals and was edged by Yu Zhou from the University of Minnesota, who posted a score of 410.25. Lin bested the third-place finisher, Stanford's Kassidy Cook, by 16.45 points.
Her top-eight finish makes Lin a First-Team All-American. She becomes Miami's first All-American since Kelsey Vehr finished in seventh-place in the 100-yard breaststroke in 2010.
Lin is the second Miami athlete to compete in an NCAA Championship this month. Junior Amelia Strickler placed 15th in shot put at the NCAA Women’s Track & Field National Championships last week.
