Miami in Ninth after Short Program

MARLBOROUGH, Mass.—After the first day at the Junior World Qualifier, the Miami University junior synchronized skating team sits in ninth place among the 12-team field.
Skating their short program to a Jock Jams Megamix, Miami posted a score of 40.94 with a program component score of 22.72 and a technical element score of 21.22. Miami incurred three deductions, including two falls.
The RedHawks are just 1.02 points out of seventh place and 2.39 points out of sixth. Skyliners lead the field with a score of 59.81 followed by Lexettes (55.93), Chicago Jazz (49.20), Team Braemar (46.24), St. Louis Synergy (45.32), Fond du Lac Blades (43.33), California Gold (41.96), Hockettes (41.98), Miami (40.94), Starlights (39.97), Synchroettes (39.49) and Team Delaware (35.09).
The RedHawks return to the ice on Saturday evening for the free skate event.
