COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- For the second-straight night, Miami and Colorado College were locked in a tie minutes before overtime before a late CC goal lifted it past Miami 3-2.

Hunter Fejes scored with 1:13 remaining as the Tigers (3-13, 2-6 National Collegiate Hockey) secured a weekend sweep of the RedHawks (5-9-2, 2-7-1-1 NCHC), who enter their holiday break on a six-game winless streak.

The first four minutes of the contest flew by without a whistle as Miami took two of the first three shots on goal, though most chances came from the perimeter as it stayed scoreless past the first media timeout. A CC turnover ended up in its net at the 7:44 mark when Jack Roslovic drove the puck down the left side and pulled Jacob Nehama out of the net, but he was unable to jam the puck in. However, Sean Kuraly picked up the rebound at the right side and buried it for his second goal of the season to give the Red and White a 1-0 lead.

While that Kuraly tally was the only puck that found the back of the net, Miami was generally much sharper in a period that was entirely played at even strength. The RedHawks outshot the Tigers 10-7 and had a number of opportunities in prime scoring areas that tested Nehama. Miami held the one-goal lead into intermission, but was called for a penalty as time expired and faced a CC power play with a fresh sheet of ice to start the second.

The RedHawks killed off the carryover penalty with little difficulty and got a chance with their own man advantage at the 3:03 mark, but the Tigers also killed that one off despite MU generating some good chances.

An icing infraction ended up burning Miami as Colorado College won the offensive zone draw and fired a shot wide off the wall, where the rebound was centered to Cody Bradley in front for the tying goal at the 9:02 mark. The Tigers then grabbed the lead on a Mason Bergh rebound goal on the power play with 4:55 remaining the middle frame, which was upheld after a video review to check if they were offside earlier in the play.

A Miami power play had an opportunity to tie it up late, but Nehama held his ground during a scoreless two minutes that included stopping a Roslovic one-timer from the left circle. Just as it appeared that the Tigers would hold a one-goal edge after 40 minutes, but Kevin Morris scored from a sharp angle at the right wing with 1:12 left for his first goal of the season to even the score at 2-2 after two periods. Alex Gacek and Kiefer Sherwood drew assists on the tally, the latter of which extended Sherwood's point streak to four games.

The third period began with a big surge by Miami where the first two lines to see the ice hemmed Colorado College in its zone. MU fired six shots on goal, but Nehama was able to fend all of those attempts off.

Things began stabilizing for both sides as the period wore on as CC also had some cracks on goal, including a 2-on-1 break where Ryan McKay stopped Hunter Fejes past the midway point of the frame. As overtime appeared looming, a turnover at the Tigers' blue line sprung Fejes for a breakaway and this time he beat McKay to give them a 3-2 lead with 1:13 to go. The RedHawks had one more look in the final seconds as Anthony Louis ripped a one-timer from between the circles that Nehama stopped to finish off the weekend sweep.

Miami outshot Colorado College 36-24 on the evening with CC going 1-for-3 on the power play and MU finishing 0-for-2 with the man advantage. McKay stopped 21 of 24 shots in goal for the Red and White while Nehama turned away 34 of 36 attempts at the other end.

The RedHawks are idle until Jan. 2, when they start a five-game home stand with a series opener against RPI at 7:05 p.m.
