All three Miami University synchronized skating teams will be in action this weekend at the 20th Annual Dr. Richard Porter Classic in Ann Arbor, Mich.
The RedHawk senior team is coming off gold-medal finishes in both the short and free skate programs in their season-opening competition at the Anaheim ICE Championships on Nov. 15. The senior team has finished first at this event the last four seasons. Miami's senior team performs its short program to the song "Breath of Life". The RedHawks' free skate program has a Latin dance theme.
Fresh off an undefeated season, Miami's collegiate team opens its 2015-16 campaign this weekend and looks to extend a win streak that dates back the 2013-14 Dr. Richard Porter Classic where the RedHawks finished second at the event. Miami has won seven straight events entering this weekend's competition. The collegiate team's program has a USA theme.
Miami's junior team also opens its season this weekend. For the junior short program, the RedHawks skate to the "Survivor/I Will Survive" medley from Glee. The free skate program has a Disney villainess theme. Last season, the MU junior team finished sixth at this event.
