Winning five individual MAC titles, Bob Gardner '78 led Miami men's tennis to a string of success from 1975-78. The Red and White captured four-consecutive MAC Championships and won 48-straight MAC matches during Gardner's MU career. Gardner seized titles at No. 2 singles in 1976 and at No. 4 singles in 1975 and 1977, while pairing up to capture doubles titles in the third flight in 1975 and 1977. Garner and his teammates made MAC history in 1977 as they won all nine flights at the MAC Championships, a feat that was never duplicated. He earned First-Team All-MAC honors in 1976 and helped Miami to an NCAA Tournament appearance in 1975. Gardner served as team captain his final season in 1978.
Gardner is one of seven members joining the Hall of Fame this weekend. He is joined by Colleen Day '04 (women's basketball), Damon Frierson '99 (men's basketball), Jill Kohrs '84 (volleyball), Doug Krause '72 (football), Kirk Springs '82 (football) and Tim Winans '85 (men's swimming).
As a reminder to those planning to attend the dinner, the location was changed to the Armstrong Center to meet a high demand of attendees. More information can be found HERE.
