"We are truly humbled by the generosity and support of our recent graduating senior class and their families," said Miami synchronized skating head coach Carla DeGirolamo. "Their passion and dedication to their teammates and to the future of this program is remarkable. Our athletes have developed a tradition of giving back and staying connected with the program. There is such a sense of pride and community among our athletes and their families, both current and alumni. It truly warms my heart. Their generosity will help give future generations the opportunity to compete successfully at the elite level and to become a part of this special organization."
"The demonstration of philanthropic support from student-athletes from the Synchronized Skating Class of 2015 is extraordinary," said associate athletic director for development Coleman Barnes. "Their willingness to give back, while encouraging their parents to do the same, shows the caliber of young women involved with the program. This gift positions their teammates, the student-athletes who have most recently joined the program and also those who will join in the future for greater success."
This is latest in a collective pledge of gifts from the synchronized skating senior classes over the past few years.
The class of Chandler Carroll, Erin D'Amato, Bonnie Lynch, Maggie Maier, Melissa Marchese, Alexis Monti, Ashley Mulhern, Roxanna Schmidt and Jennifer Stewart along with their families made a financial pledge to the program that exceeded $7,000.
As an entire athletic department over the past two years, 100 percent of Miami University's more than 500 student-athletes have financially supported the Red & White Club. Officially launched in April, the Graduating Champions Campaign seeks to raise $80 million to support student-athlete scholarships and improve Miami's athletic facilities. It seeks the participation of alumni, friends and fans at all giving levels, ranging from naming gifts to annual Red & White Club support and has already exceeded more than half of its goal.
