OXFORD, Ohio -- Junior breaststroke specialist Stephanie LeMire started off the 2015-16 campaign strong with a win in the 200-yard breaststroke against a tough Purdue University squad in the season-opening meet for the Miami University women's swimming and diving team. The RedHawks, however, dropped a 185-106 decision to the Boilermakers at the Nixon Aquatic Center on Friday evening.
LeMire's win in the 200 breaststroke highlighted a trio of top-three finishes for the RedHawks. She touched the wall in a time of 2:19.18, besting her nearest competitor by 0.17 seconds.
In addition to LeMire's efforts, sophomore Shay Spelman placed third in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:32.82), and senior Sara Krueger finished third in the 50-yard freestyle (24.31).
The RedHawks do not get much of a break as they turn around tomorrow and host Xavier in a co-ed meet Saturday, Oct. 17 in the Nixon Aquatic Center at 2 p.m.
